SLIDING ROCK

Note:  On the first leg of your trip to visit all these falls, take the Blue Ridge Parkway towards Asheville to the US 276 exit. After exiting the Parkway turn right (south) on US 276.  Sliding Rock and Looking Glass Falls are located on US 276. You have to drive a little further for the rest. Stay on US 276 to US 64, and turn south. Turn right on NC 281 to Whitewater Falls, then backtrack to US 64.  You can visit Cullasaja Falls, Dry Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls from US 64.  To see Courthouse Falls, stay o US 64 to US 215 and turn north.

sliding rock

After you get off the Parkway on US 276, turn right and continue driving for just a few miles until you see a sign for Sliding Rock on the right hand side of the road.

This natural waterside is a favorite of many people. Take your bathing suit and towel, and maybe a pair of blue jeans. Just jump in the water at the top of the falls, and slide down the rock face to the bottom.  (There is a $3 per vehicle charge for parking)

Factoid - Located directly off US 276 in Pisgah National Forest, the slide sends 11,000 gallons of 50 to 60 degree water rushing down the rock every minute
